Für das ACC Galerie und Kulturzentrum Weimar gestalten vier Künstler Piotr Szyhalski, Thomas Hammelmann, Edith Kollath und Mischa Kuball, inspiriert von kurzen ausgewählten Textpassagen aus Goethes Faust die Ausstellung Vier Fäuste und kein Halleluja – Mephisto Revisited. Wichtigster Protagonist, Ausgangs-, Dreh- und Angelpunkt der Ausstellung ist dabei neben Faust dessen Widerpart Mephisto, der einer Neubetrachtung aus gegenwärtiger bildkünstlerischer Perspektive unterzogen wird. Welche Gültigkeit hat diese Gestalt heute, mit Blick auf Gewalt, Macht- und Dominanzverhältnisse, auf Geschichtskonstruktion und Kollektivvergessen, auf Ausgrenzungserfahrung und Selbstbestimmung?
Das Weimarer Faust-Jahr, initiiert von der Klassik Stiftung Weimar, nimmt Goethes Ankunft in der Stadt an der Ilm vor 250 Jahren zum Anlass und wird mit zahlreichen Veranstaltungen und umfangreichen Ausstellungen gestaltet. Zur Walpurgisnacht werden gleichzeitig die thematischen Schauen der Klassik Stiftung Weimar und der ACC Galerie Weimar mit künstlerischen Interventionen und einem musikalisch-perfomativen Umzug, die die Ausstellungsorte verbinden, eröffnet.

"Im Jahr 2025 ist die sächsische Industriestadt Chemnitz Kulturhauptstadt Europas. Das ist Anlass für eine besondere Kooperation zwischen Düsseldorf und Chemnitz, die seit 37 Jahren eine Städtepartnerschaft pflegen.
Vom 7. Mai bis zum 30. Juni ist in der „Stadtwirtschaft“ die Installation nine eight planets, one star, one world des Düsseldorfer Künstlers Mischa Kuball zu erleben. Mit unserem Gastspiel in Chemnitz möchten wir einen Impuls dazu geben, dass die Menschen sich diesen neu zu nutzenden Raum erlaufen, erschauen und im Angesicht des von Mischa Kuball geschaffenen Universums die Freiheit spüren, eigene Träume einzubringen. In den Künsten können wir Visionen gemeinsamer Zukünfte entwickeln. Es war uns wichtig, mit der Wahl des Ortes und dem freien Eintritt ein Kunsterlebnis für alle Chemnitzerinnen und Chemnitzer sowie allen internationalen Besucherinnen und Besuchern der Kulturhauptstadt zu schaffen."

Mit eight planets, one star, one world versucht Mischa Kuball das Unfassbare und Unbegreifliche unseres Universums erfahrbar zu machen. Zugleich thematisiert er die Entwicklung des Menschen hin zum Erforscher des Alls. Im Zuge seiner Evolution, vor allem seit Beginn der Aufklärung, strebte der Mensch nach Wissen, was denn „da oben" sei - zuerst durch die Betrachtung mittels Teleskops, später durch das reale Bereisen des Weltalls. Das Licht mag dadurch auch als Symbol für das aufklärerische Denken verstanden werden, das den Menschen seit jeher antreibt.
Der Eintritt für die Finissage ist frei.

Zum Abschluss der Ausstellung afterall, eclipse von Mischa Kuball laden der Verein zur Förderung des Israel Museums in Jerusalem e.V. und M.M. Warburg & Co. KG zu einem exklusiven Abend in die Galerie Watson ein. Im Dialog mit dem Künstler Mischa Kuball werden zentrale Themen der Ausstellung beleuchtet – von Licht und Schatten als konzeptuelle Mittel bis hin zu gesellschaftlichen und räumlichen Reflexionen.

Mit Zero + lädt der Kunstraum Gewerbepark Süd zu einer umfangreichen Gruppenausstellung mit Rahmenprogramm ein.
Die Kunstbewegung „Zero“, die in den frühen 1950er-Jahren von Heinz Mack, Otto Piene und später Günther Uecker ins Leben gerufen wurde, setzte sich als Befreiung von den Schatten des Zweiten Weltkriegs und als Aufbruch zu neuen, positiven, lichtdurchfluteten Kunstformen durch. Sie nutzten reflektierende Materialien, Spiegelungen und dynamische Raumkonstruktionen, um die Kunst in eine neue Richtung zu lenken. Die Bewegung stellte traditionelle ästhetische Ideale infrage und setzte sich mit neuen philosophischen Ansätzen auseinander. Obwohl die Zero-Künstlergruppe sich 1966 auflöste, lebt ihr Erbe in zahlreichen zeitgenössischen Kunstprojekten weiter. Die Ausstellung beleuchtet dieses Erbe und zeigt Werke von Künstlern wie Mischa Kuball, Ólafur Eliasson und Hartmut Neumann, die das Konzept von Zero in ihren eigenen Arbeiten fortführen. Neben Werken von Mack, Piene und Uecker werden auch Porträts der Künstler sowie Werke von Charles Wilp und Yves Klein präsentiert.

For the ACC Galerie und Kulturzentrum Weimar, the four artists Piotr Szyhalski, Thomas Hammelmann, Edith Kollath und Mischa Kuball, have created the exhibition Four Fists and No Hallelujah - Mephisto Revisited, inspired by short selected text passages from Goethe's Faust. The most important protagonist, starting point and pivotal point of the exhibition is, alongside Faust, his adversary Mephisto, who is subjected to a new examination from a contemporary visual art perspective. What validity does this figure have today, with regard to violence, power and dominance relations, the construction of history and collective forgetfulness, the experience of exclusion and self-determination?
The Weimar Faust Year, initiated by the Klassik Stiftung Weimar, takes Goethe's arrival in the city on the Ilm 250 years ago as an occasion and is being organized with numerous events and extensive exhibitions. On Walpurgis Night, the thematic exhibitions of the Klassik Stiftung Weimar and the ACC Galerie Weimar will open simultaneously with artistic interventions and a musical-performative parade connecting the exhibition venues.

With eight planets, one star, one world, Mischa Kuball attempts to make the incomprehensible and incomprehensible of our universe tangible. At the same time, he addresses the development of man into an explorer of the universe. In the course of his evolution, especially since the beginning of the Enlightenment, man has strived to know what is “up there” - first by observing with a telescope, later by actually traveling through space. The light may therefore also be understood as a symbol of the enlightened thinking that has always driven mankind.

With Zero +, the Kunstraum Gewerbepark Süd invites you to an extensive group exhibition and supporting program.
The “Zero” art movement, which was launched in the early 1950s by Heinz Mack, Otto Piene and later Günther Uecker, established itself as a liberation from the shadows of the Second World War and a departure towards new, positive, light-flooded art forms. They used reflective materials, mirroring and dynamic spatial constructions to steer art in a new direction. The movement questioned traditional aesthetic ideals and explored new philosophical approaches. Although the Zero group of artists disbanded in 1966, their legacy lives on in numerous contemporary art projects. The exhibition sheds light on this legacy and shows works by artists such as Mischa Kuball, Ólafur Eliasson and Hartmut Neumann, who continue the Zero concept in their own works. In addition to works by Mack, Piene and Uecker, portraits of the artists and works by Charles Wilp and Yves Klein will also be presented.
