Mit space_relations wird das Weltkunstzimmer 2025 zu einem Ort der Beziehungen. Das ganzjährige Projekt entsteht in Kooperation mit Mischa Kuball und thematisiert Kunst im öffentlichen Raum, institutionelle Verantwortung und die Rolle künstlerischer Prozesse in gesellschaftlichen Aushandlungen. Vom 10. bis zum 13. Juni 2025 kommen im Rahmen des Lab 2 Künstler*innen des Projekts zusammen, um gemeinsam zu arbeiten und sich auszutauschen.
Am 13. Juni öffnet das Lab 2 des Projekts space_relations um 19 Uhr seine Türen für die Öffentlichkeit. Auf 1.200 qm bekommen die Besucher*innen einen besonderen Einblick in den offenen Prozess künstlerischer Arbeit: Zu sehen sind keine abgeschlossenen Werke, sondern Skizzen, Recherchen, Performances und Aktionen im Entstehen. Der Parcours umfasst Performance, Installation, Zeichnung, Video, Sound und Tanz – mit Übergängen zwischen bildender und darstellender Kunst, mit partizipativen Elementen und Raum für Begegnung.
Im Spannungsfeld von White Cube und urbanem Raum wird Kunst hier als lebendiger, gesellschaftlich eingebetteter Prozess erfahrbar. Die Teilnahme ist kostenfrei, der Parcours dauert etwa drei Stunden. Das Publikum kann jederzeit kommen und gehen.
Im Rahmen des Lab 2 sind 20 der teilnehmenden Künstler*innen und Mitwirkenden mit eigenen Projekten und Beiträgen vertreten: Moe Sabbah, Wanda Koller, Daria Nazarenko, Moïse Fall, Maja Funke, Denise Ritter, Balz Isler, Kathrin Dröppelmann, Robin Meier Wiratunga, Rada Boukova, David JongSung Myung, Loretta, Dr. Schmitt, Elvire Bonduelle, Marguerite Pilven, Vanessa Joan Müller, Juri Lechthoff, Leila Orth, Marie Samrotzki, Ronan Sungeelee.
space_relations wurde gemeinsam von Mischa Kuball und dem Weltkunstzimmer mit einem internationalen Kurator*innenteam entwickelt. Es verbindet Kunstinstitution, Stadtraum und Öffentlichkeit in einem offenen Labor, das neue Formen von Zusammenarbeit und Teilhabe erprobt.

Am 23. Juni 2025 starten die Jüdischen Kulturtage Rhein Ruhr mit ihrer sechsten Ausgabe. Die Jüdischen Kulturtage sind ein Kunst- und Kulturfestival in den Regionen Rheinland, Ruhrgebiet und Bergisches Land. Die acht regionalen Jüdischen Gemeinden gestalten gemeinsam mit großen und kleinen Kulturinstitutionen und zahlreichen Partnerorganisationen ein reichhaltiges und spannendes Programm.
In diesem Rahmen findet am 26. Juni ein Gespräch zwischen Mischa Kuball und Miriam Koch, Beigeordnete für Kultur und Integration der Landeshauptstadt Düsseldorf, über sein Werk missing link_, das im November 2024 an der Kasernenstraße am ehemaligen Standort der alten Synagoge eingeweiht wurde, statt. Das Gespräch wird moderiert von Dr. Emmanuel Mir.
Der Eintritt für die Veranstaltung ist frei. Eine Anmeldung über die Website ist erforderlich.

Vom 6. Juni bis zum 7. September 2025 zeigt die zweite Ausgabe der Ostfriesland Biennale internationale zeitgenössische Kunst an verschiedenen Standorten der Region. Unter den Künstlern befindet sich auch Mischa Kuball, dessen Arbeit Fieses Licht (1995/2010) im Schlosspark Evenburg in Leer ausgestellt wird.
Die Biennale wird begleitet von einem umfangreichen Rahmenprogramm. Alle Infos hierzu und zu den verschiedenen Standorten der Ausstellungen finden Sie auf der Website.

Das transnationale Projekt if walls could tell hinterfragt Kunstinstitutionen im Hinblick auf ihre Durchlässigkeit zu breiteren sozialen Gruppen innerhalb einer Gemeinschaft. Über einen Zeitraum von jeweils zwei bis vier Wochen werden in verschiedenen Städten Südosteuropas drei symbolische Museumswände im öffentlichen Raum installiert, wo sie als zugängliche und temporäre Bühne für die Einwohner dienen. Wie ein Filter werden diese Wände alle "Spuren" kultureller und urbaner Ausdrucksformen inmitten des städtischen Lebens der Menschen auffangen, weg von den kulturellen Institutionen, auf die sie sich beziehen. Einmal von der Umwelt und den Menschen geprägt, kehrt die Bühne dann in ihren institutionellen Kontext zurück, um die hinterlassenen Spuren zu sichern oder weiter zu beschriften.
Der Prozess wird in allen Partnerstädten wiederholt und begann im August 2024 mit dem Ars Aevi in Sarajevor, dann im Nationalmuseum des rumänischen Bauern in Bukarest, gefolgt von Skopje, Kraljevica, Bihać, Ljubljana, Chișinău und Čačak im Jahr 2025. In jeder der Partnerstädte werden die Wände nach ihrer Installation im öffentlichen Raum in das Museum oder die Galerie zurückkehren, wo Podiumsdiskussionen stattfinden werden, um die Auswirkungen der partizipativen Kunst im öffentlichen Raum in ihrem spezifischen Kontext zu thematisieren. Das Projekt wird im WELTKUNSTZIMMER in Düsseldorf enden, wo die Abschlussdiskussion mit allen Partnern stattfinden wird.
Am 5. Juni 2025 startete das Projekt mit einem Launch in Čačak, in Kooperation mit der Art Gallery Nadezda Petrovic und dem Goetheinstitut Belgrad, seinen vorerst letzten Durchlauf.

With space_relations, the Weltkunstzimmer 2025 will become a place of relationships: the year-round project is being developed in cooperation with Mischa Kuball and focuses on art in public space, institutional responsibility and the role of artistic processes in social negotiations. From June 10 to 13, 2025, artists from the project will come together as part of Lab 2 to work together and exchange ideas.
On June 13, Lab 2 of the space_relations project will open its doors to the public at 7 pm. On 1,200 square meters, visitors will get a special insight into the open process of artistic work: no completed works will be on display, but sketches, research, performances and actions in progress. The parcours includes performance, installation, drawing, video, sound and dance - with transitions between visual and performing arts, participatory elements and space for encounters.
In the field of tension between the white cube and urban space, art can be experienced here as a living, socially embedded process. Participation is free of charge and the tour lasts around three hours. The public can come and go at any time.

space_relations was developed jointly by Mischa Kuball and the Weltkunstzimmer with an international team of curators. It combines art institution, urban space and the public in an open laboratory that tests new forms of collaboration and participation.

On June 23, 2025, the sixth edition of the Jewish Culture Days Rhine-Ruhr will begin. The Jewish Culture Days are an art and culture festival in the Rhineland, Ruhr and Bergisches Land regions. The eight regional Jewish communities work together with large and small cultural institutions and numerous partner organizations to create a rich and exciting programme.
On June 26, Mischa Kuball and Miriam Koch, Councillor for Culture and Integration of the state capital Düsseldorf, will hold a discussion about his work missing link_, which was inaugurated in November 2024 on Kasernenstraße at the former site of the old synagogue. The discussion will be moderated by Dr. Emmanuel Mir.

From June 6 to September 7, 2025, the second edition of the Ostfriesland Biennale will showcase international contemporary art at various locations in the region. Among the artists is Mischa Kuball, whose work Fieses Licht (1995/2010) will be exhibited in the Schlosspark Evenburg in Leer.

The transnational project if walls could tell questions art institutions in terms of their permeability to broader social groups within a community. Over a period of two to four weeks, three symbolic museum walls will be installed in public spaces in various cities in South Eastern Europe, where they will serve as an accessible and temporary stage for the inhabitants. Like a filter, these walls will catch all “traces” of cultural and urban expressions in the midst of people's urban lives, away from the cultural institutions to which they refer. Once marked by the environment and the people, the stage will then return to its institutional context to secure or further inscribe the traces left behind.
The process will be repeated in all partner cities, starting in August 2024 with the Ars Aevi in Sarajevor, then at the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant in Bucharest, followed by Skopje, Kraljevica, Bihać, Ljubljana, Chișinău and Čačak in 2025. In each of the partner cities, the walls will return to the museum or gallery after their installation in the public space, where panel discussions will be held to address the impact of participatory public art in their specific context. The project will end at the WELTKUNSTZIMMER in Düsseldorf, where the final discussion with all partners will take place.
On June 5, 2025, the project started its last run for the time being with a launch in Čačak, in cooperation with the Art Gallery Nadezda Petrovic and the Goethe Institute Belgrade.
